Air Canada's New Leisure Airline Flies to Costa Rica


Good news for Canadians (and our US border friends!) planning a trip to Costa Rica!  Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada's low-cost alternative airline, is set to starting flying into both Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO) and Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (LIR), Guanacaste, just 20 minutes from our one-bedroom ocean view condo in Playas del Coco.

Air Canada Rouge will be offering fares from Toronto (YYZ) to Costa Rica (with connecting flights from across Canada) including all fees, taxes & surcharges from as little as CAD $389 each way with flights scheduled to begin on July 1, 2013.  Just an FYI, baggage allowances for Air Canada Rouge are as follows:
  • 1st Checked Bag - FREE (maximum 50 LB or 23 KG)
  • 2nd Checked Bag - CAD $20 one way
  • Surfboards - CAD $50 one way (subject to space; maximum 80 IN or 203 CM and maximum linear dimensions of 109 IN or  277 CM
